Assistance

The Private Affordable Housing Rental Program is intended to assist persons of low to moderate income in identifying and applying for affordable rental units in the Town of Middleborough, made available through local Housing Development Support Program Grants.

Affordable Property

The OECD monitors 25 affordable apartments created through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to ensure these apartments remain affordable to the public. By partnering with downtown commercial property owners, we have renovated four buildings with available 1 and 2 bedroom units above commercial spaces (2nd and 3rd floors). The Town does not provide Section 8 assistance or housing, which is provided by the Middleborough Housing Authority.

Rental Rates

Rental rates are regulated by the Brockton PMSA as published periodically by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for use in the Housing Development Support Program. Current rental rates may be obtained by contacting the Middleborough Office of Economic and Community Development. Units are subject to HUD rent limits.

Application Screening

The Middleborough Office of Economic and Community Development personnel will guide potential renters through the application process. These private rental units will be made available to only those individuals who are defined as having a low to moderate income as established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Brockton, Massachusetts area, for use by the Housing Development Support Program. Limited Units

Due to the limited units available, it is possible that we will not be able to provide a rental unit at the same time your application is approved. In such an instance, your name will be placed on a waiting list.

Waiting List

Notification to an applicant of a vacancy will be made from a waiting list in the chronological order of their approved application, with priority given to Middleborough residents.
