Running for Public Office & Campaign Finance

Any person who is a Middleborough resident and a registered voter may obtain nomination papers for the April Annual Town Election ballot from the Town Clerk's Office. Nomination papers and election calendars are available each January 1st.

Date of Annual Town Election

The regular election of all Town Offices is held annually on the first Saturday in April. Nomination papers are available on January 1st or the next business day if this date falls on a weekend or holiday.

Number of Signatures

Candidates running for town-wide office require the signatures of 50 voters.

All candidates for elected office for elected office must file Campaign Finance Forms. These forms are due 8 days prior to the election, 30 days after the election and a year end statement which is due January 20th of the following year. Even if you do not spend any money on your campaign, you must file these forms on time.

All Elected Officials MUST complete the Year End Campaign Finance Report with the Town Clerk's Office by January 20th of each year for the previous year.
